Fees & Payment Options

The wealthy have always had lawyers. We believe working people deserve them too.

Justice Shouldn't Have a Price Tag

For too long, the legal system has been a tool of the wealthy—designed by them, for them. Corporations have armies of lawyers. Landlords have legal teams on retainer. Immigration enforcement has unlimited government resources. Meanwhile, working families are told they can't afford to fight back.

We reject that. At Cascade Legal, we structure our fees to ensure that money is never the reason you can't defend yourself against exploitation.

How We Structure Our Fees

Contingency Fees

Employment & Tenant Cases

When your employer steals your wages or your landlord violates your rights, you shouldn't need money upfront to fight back. In many employment and tenant cases, our fees come from what we recover for you—and if we don't win, you don't pay attorney's fees.

This is how we level the playing field against wealthy corporations and property owners who assume you can't afford to sue them. They're wrong.

Court costs and case expenses may still apply. Details provided in your fee agreement.

Flat Fee Services

Immigration Services

Immigration is stressful enough without worrying about a ballooning legal bill. For many immigration services, we offer transparent flat-fee pricing so you know exactly what you're paying from day one.

The government makes immigration deliberately confusing and expensive. We won't add to that burden.

Flat fees cover specified services. Additional work may require separate agreement.

Sliding Scale & Payment Plans

For Qualifying Clients

Your income shouldn't determine your access to justice. For qualifying low-income clients, we may offer reduced fees or flexible payment plans based on your household income and circumstances.

The system is rigged against poor and working-class people. We do what we can to unrig it.

Eligibility determined during consultation based on income, household size, and case type.

The Uncomfortable Truth About Legal Fees

Let's be honest about why legal help is so expensive in America:

  • Law schools cost $200,000+—creating a profession that caters to those who can pay premium rates
  • Corporate firms pay starting salaries of $200,000+—pulling lawyers away from public interest work
  • Legal aid is deliberately underfunded—because powerful interests don't want poor people to have lawyers
  • Courts are designed by the privileged—with rules and procedures that assume you have legal help

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread."

— Anatole France

This quote captures how "equal" laws often serve the powerful. At Cascade Legal, we fight to make legal protection actually equal—not just on paper.

When We Can't Help Directly

We can't take every case—but we never leave anyone without options. If we cannot represent you, we try to connect you with:

Free legal services for those who qualify based on income

Workers' Centers

Community organizations that help workers fight wage theft and abuse

Tenant Unions

Collective power for renters facing landlord exploitation

Immigration Nonprofits

Note: We cannot guarantee that another lawyer or organization will accept your case, but we do our best to point you toward resources.
